It’s time for the much awaited haul review of the year – BIRTHDAY HAUL!
I’m always the one making a big birthday list and my family chooses what to get me from the same. So this time I decided to get none other than the highly raved and luxurious Chanel Rouge Allure lipstick in No. 50 – La Romanesque.
After using it carefully for about five to six times, I’m ready to review the product!
Unlike the typical bullet lipstick packaging, most Chanel lipsticks come with a unique and uber luxurious click-open packaging. So you push the gold Chanel logo part (on the top) of the lipstick, it clicks and comes out and then you pull it out of the black cover, twist, and apply. The black and gold combination is my absolute favourite!
La Romanesque is a solid magenta shade with a neutral undertone, suitable for most Indian skin tones, especially deeper tones. Being an NC 44.5, I always had a hard time finding a pure pink lipstick that would flatter my skin tone. But the minute I tried this on, I knew this was the one! Its that pop of colour that sort of brightens up my face instantly, bringing out my deep skin tone beautifully. It’s a gorgeous shade for date nights and night outs.
The lipstick is velvety matte in texture, comfortable on the lips, highly pigmented (the swatch above is after a single swipe) and moisturising on the lips. You don’t need to apply a lip balm underneath. I personally love pure matte lipsticks and was honestly a little disappointed when I found out that Chanel doesn’t make pure mattes. Nevertheless, the lipstick turned out to be a good change from my drying MAC lipsticks (I still love those)!
The Staying Power
The first time I wore this lipstick, I ended up eating a heavy (and oily) meal, and I felt like the lipstick was a waste of money as it faded away and left stains. But! When I tried it the next time, I made a conscious effort to not eat crazy oily food, and to my relief, it stayed put for a good four hours. And then I thanked God!
Available at the Chanel Store in Select Citywalk Saket.
