I’m going to begin this post by thanking you all for the amazing response and love that you’re giving me. My blogging journey has just begun and I am so thankful to all of you for trusting and appreciating my reviews already! I hope to continue reviewing as many products as I can, and if there is anything you want me to review in specific, you can let me know in the comments section here or on Instagram. I’ll be more than happy to the same!
So coming to my new MAC lipsticks (that are part of my birthday haul), are ready to be reviewed. The first shade I tried on was Mehr, which is a cool-toned nude pink. As I mentioned in my previous post, undertones play an essential part when it comes to choosing makeup, be it foundation, powders and even lipsticks. Indian skin usually has yellow undertones, and hence, warm shades like nudes, browns and peaches go with this type. However, MAC Mehr, a shade with blue undertones, is an exception. Another exception is Rubywoo which is again a cool-toned red by MAC.
So as you can see in the picture, this shade is a dirty pale pink. Please note that the shade looks slightly darker in the image than it actually is.
When I first saw the shade, I was really tempted to try it on. Come on, it looks like a perfect nude pink that would go with everything! And then came my usual confused thought process at the makeup store :
So after wearing it, I felt like it didn’t suit me as much as I thought (rather, wanted) it would. Now this was mainly because I had no makeup on that day and I do have some pigmentation around my mouth area (which is a common problem for Indian skin). I usually tend to work with any product by mixing and matching it with different products, so this was a chance I was willing to take! Also because there was so much hype about the shade, I decided.. to get it! I knew I could work with it (or in the worst case I’d just pass it on to my sister).
Turns out, after my usual compact routine and a little bit of concealing my mouth area, the shade looked absolutely stunning! Moreover, my Coppertone blush (reviewed in an earlier post) brought out this lipstick so well, that I think I should share a picture with you all soon. The shade definitely grew on me! I do mix it with a brown shade sometimes when I need to tone down the pink, and that works well too.
A few things that I absolutely love about MAC lipsticks is that they are so pigmented that even a nude shade hides any kind of darkness on the lips. Also, their matte lipsticks are really long lasting (a good 5-6 hours!).
Tip : After applying any lipstick, make sure to conceal the area around your lips/mouth to bring out those gorgeous lips! Also, a classic dark smoky eye goes best with a nude lip, so make sure to try that out!
