As I mentioned in my previous post, I was looking for a neutral blush which would go with my medium to dusky skin tone and which wasn’t Pink. I was never a fan of pink blush-on as I always felt it made me look a few shades darker than my original skin tone and just didn’t suit me. Hence I was looking for something subdued and muted, something that didn’t stand out on my face but did the job of a blush. I’m sure a lot of you have such thoughts while choosing makeup!
Knowing your undertone makes things a hell lot easier, and narrows down your options. Here’s a way to figure out your undertone :
Notice the color of your veins (on your forearm/hands). If they appear greenish, your skin has warm undertones. If they appear bluish, your skin has cool undertones. Shades of orange, peach, coral, basically all sunset shades go with skin of warm undertones. Whereas shades of pink, violet, plum go with cool undertones. Indian women usually have warm/yellow undertones to their skin.
Coppertone by MAC is a light brownish, peachy matte shade that essentially goes with warm skin tones. When I first tried it on, I put a bit too much (of course I did!) and I ended up looking like a clown. So, always make sure you brush off the excess product before applying it to your skin (goes for eye shadows as well). And thanks to my blending brush and tissues, I corrected my clown face! Anyway, so what I really liked about this shade was how natural it looked on me, like it was my natural flush. And being matte (powder based), it gave me a perfect shine-free finish. I like to have minimal shine on my face, but thanks to my naturally oily skin, I end up looking like a bulb in summers! But ever since I’ve been using these matte products by MAC, I’ve noticed a huge (and amazing) difference in my makeup.
Another thing that I really love about this blush is that I can use for my everyday as well as on occasions. Highly pigmented, yet it gives me such a beautifully natural flush! Also, it’s the first blush I picked up from MAC, and I’m already raving about it. Although I got mine as a gift, I am still sure it’s worth the cost! So if you’re looking for a blush that isn’t pink, go for Coppertone and you’ll understand what I feel about this product!
